C-DOT Unveils 14 Indigenous Quantum Products for Cyber Resilience
C-DOT has launched 14 indigenous quantum products spanning Quantum Key Distribution and Post-Quantum Cryptography to secure India's communication networks against emerging quantum threats.
Context and Institutional Development
During its 43rd Foundation Day celebrations in New Delhi, the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT)—the premier telecom R&D centre of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Ministry of Communications—unveiled 14 indigenous Quantum Products.
The newly launched suite addresses emerging cybersecurity challenges posed by the advent of quantum computing. By translating domestic research into deployable solutions, C-DOT aims to establish robust, future-ready protection across enterprise, telecom, optical, wireless, and strategic defense communication networks.
Quantum Key Distribution and Hardware Sub-modules
The indigenous quantum portfolio integrates Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) technologies with specialized hardware components. Hardware-level innovations include the C-SPD, a Single-Photon Detector, and the C-RD, a wideband RF driver designed to drive intensity and phase modulators in high-performance quantum communication systems.
For key generation and distribution over optical fibre networks, C-DOT developed two distinct systems: Q-AKSHAY CD, a compact 1U-sized unit employing Coherent One Way (COW) and Differential Phase Shift (DPS) protocols; and Q-AKSHAY MD, a next-generation system utilizing the Measurement Device Independent (MDI) protocol to eliminate vulnerabilities linked to measurement devices.
